Overview

This article describes how to view active ScreenMeet sessions started through Tanium, join and end sessions, review session history, and access the ScreenMeet console. It also covers connecting the audit log to ServiceNow.

View and Join Sessions

Visibility depends on your role. With Integration Admin - ScreenMeet, you can see all sessions and join sessions started by other operators.

With Screen Sharing Agent, you can see and rejoin only the sessions you started. Multiple operators can join one endpoint session, but only one operator at a time can take control.

  1. From the Main menu, go to Shared Services > Direct Connect > Screen Sharing Sessions.

  2. Select one or more active sessions and click Join Screen Sharing.

Alternatively, from Shared Services > Direct Connect, search for the endpoint by IP address or computer name, then click Join Screen Sharing in the result list.

End a Session

When you stop a session, screen sharing processes are removed from the endpoint.

  1. As an agent, close the session by navigating to the “close session” button in the Agent Viewer.

You can also search for the endpoint under Shared Services > Direct Connect and click End Screen Sharing in the result list.

macOS Session Cleanup

For attended macOS sessions, after you end the session the endpoint user must close the ScreenMeet application before you can establish another connection to that endpoint.

Review Session History

With Integration Admin - ScreenMeet, view session history in the Audit Log. Go to Shared Services > Direct Connect > Audit Log and click the Screen Sharing Sessions tab. The Session Status and Ended At values can take up to 30 minutes to update.

Access the ScreenMeet Console

To configure ScreenMeet settings, you need the Screen Sharing Administrator role. Agents can open the console using a magic link but cannot change organization settings.

  1. Go to Shared Services > Direct Connect, click Settings, then click Screen Sharing.

  2. Click the ScreenMeet console link to open an authenticated session using a magic link. In the console, you can view session history, detailed action logging, and recording configuration.

  3. In License Usage, click Users to view allocated per-user licenses and each user's most recent sign-in, and click Export > Export to CSV to export the list.

  4. Enter an Alert Threshold percentage to be alerted when allocated licenses exceed that share of your total.

Console Access Consumes a License

Opening the ScreenMeet console from Tanium Console allocates a per-operator license to your account for 30 days, even if you do not start a session.

For the recording and session settings you manage in the console, see ScreenMeet Docs: Remote Support Settings.

Send Audit Logs to ServiceNow

Integrate screen sharing with your ServiceNow instance to update tickets with audit logs from a related session. When configured, opening a session gives you the option Send audit log to ServiceNow, where you supply the associated ServiceNow Ticket ID.

  1. Go to Shared Services > Direct Connect, click Settings, then click Screen Sharing.

  2. In the ServiceNow Configuration section, enter the Host URL, Username, and Password for your instance, then click Save.

After closing a session where you sent the audit log, check the sync status under Audit Log > Screen Sharing Sessions. Statuses are Pending, In Progress, Complete, and Error.

ServiceNow ITIL Role Required

The account used for the integration requires the ITIL role in ServiceNow. More information is surfaced in the Tanium documentation at Tanium Direct Connect User Guide: Integrate with ServiceNow.
